CAS Link

The Call Accounting Software (CAS) Link is an optional service that can connect to a Genesis CAS system in order to receive call data records that are then sent to the PMS via the hospitality server. It can also support sending SMDR records from the DV2000 to the CAS, if the DV2000 is configured with a PBXLink to an Alcatel OXE PBX.

This service is only available for supported Genesis CAS, and will only be useful if the PMS protocol supports receiving call data. Call data records are not stored locally; this is a pass-through only.

This dialog is used to configure the connections to the CAS system.

These settings describe the link and enable or disable the service.

The inbound CDR link to the CAS is used by the CAS to send CDR data to the DV2000 after a call has been costed. This data can then be sent by the DV2000 to the PMS, if it is connected to a PMS using a protocol that supports the reporting of SMDR/CDR data.

Currently, the DV2000 supports sending CDR data only to a PMS that uses a FIAS-based protocol. These include:

  • Hilton OnQ OIAS
  • Oracle Opera
  • Silverbyte

If this option is disabled, the CDR link will not run, but the service itself will continue to run if the outbound SMDR link is enabled.
TCP Link TypeSelect either Client or Server, depending on what the CAS requires.
ProtocolSelect the protocol to use for the link. Only the following protocols are supported:
  • Genesis CDR
  • Genesis Form 1 HOBIC – This is the default, preferred setting.
  • Genesis Xeta
Idle timeoutThe length of time, in minutes, the system can go without receiving data from the CAS before the link is assumed to be lost and will be reset.

Default is 0 (disabled). Valid range is 0 to 90 minutes. The Genesis CAS may not send keep-alive messages, so it is preferred to keep this option disabled.
Server addressIf link type is set to Client, then enter the IP address for the CAS system here.
TCP portEnter the TCP port number used to receive CDR data from the CAS system.
ACK Delay TimeLength of time, in milliseconds, to wait after receiving a call data record from the CAS system before responding with ACK.

Valid range is 0 to 500 msec. Default is 0 msec.
Enable checksumCheck this box if the CAS system uses a checksum byte at the end of the call data record (after the ETX character).

The outbound link is used to send raw SMDR from the PBX to the CAS so it can be properly costed. The CAS will then produce the CDR data and either send it directly to the PMS, or if configured to do so, send it to the DV2000 over the inbound CDR link so that the DV2000 can send it to the PMS.

Currently, receipt of raw SMDR is only supported for the Alcatel OXE PBXLink (which uses the Alcatel AHL protocol) and it can only be sent to a Genesis CAS.

The Alcatel AHL protocol supports two types of SMDR packets, the basic 'J' packet and the extended 'K' packet. The DV2000 supports receipt of both packet types. However, it is preferred and highly recommended that the Alcatel PBX be configured to send 'K' packets rather than 'J' packets.

This should be set to match the configuration of the PBX and of the Alcatel OXE PBXLink:
  • Alcatel OXE (5-digit)
  • Alcatel OXE (8-digit)
Keep alive intervalLength of time, in minutes, the port can be idle before sending a keep-alive. Valid range is 0 to 30 min. Default is 15 min.
Retry countNumber of attempts to send an SMDR packet on no response or receipt of NAK, after which the data is discarded. Valid range is 1 to 9. Default is 3 attempts.
