Gmail Account Setup

First, we need to make sure that 2FA is enabled on the Gmail account.

Log in with your google account at: https://myaccount.google.com/ this can also be accessed on a Google page by clicking on your profile picture in the top right and then clicking “Manage your Google Account”.

Then on the left side navigate to the “security” tab and click on it.

On that page there should be a portion that is labeled “How you sign in to Google” with a line labeled “2-step verification”. If there is not a green check mark to the right of that text 2FA is not set up. Here are instructions on how to set 2FA from Google: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185839

Once we have 2FA verified to be set up we can move to the next step. We are going to want to set up a third-party password. Back on the account security page click on “2-step verification” under the “How you sign in to Google” section.

On this new page scroll down to the bottom until there is a section labeled “App passwords” there should be a box with an arrow that will allow you to create one, click it.

On the new page it will ask you to type in the app name, “DuVoice VeMail” would be a suitable choice.

Then click create, it will open a new window with a 16 character password (four sets of four characters, but ignore the spaces). This is the app password that will need to be set as the password for VeMail. Make sure to remove the spaces when putting it in the password field.

Then you’re ready to start the VeMail configuration on the DuVoice system.
